Uses
Nitroglycerine is used in the prevention and treatment of the chest pain associated with angina (when the blood supply to the muscles of the heart is restricted). How it works
Nitroglycerine belongs to a group of medicines known as nitrates. Nitrates temporarily relax smooth muscles, including those found in the walls of blood vessels in the heart. This reduces strain on the heart by making it easier for it to pump blood. What is Nitroglycerin Oral?
Nitroglycerin in the oral form (sold under trade names Nitroglycerin, Angispan and several other names) is prescribed for the treatment of angina or chest pain in people with certain heart conditions (coronary artery disease). Angina occurs when the heart doesn’t get enough oxygen and is more likely when the heart beats faster (such as during exercise or after eating). Nitroglycerin oral works by reducing the heart’s need for oxygen by lowering the heart rate, especially during times when an angina attack is more likely to occur.Nitroglycerin oral will not relieve chest pain once it occurs.
